Know the expectations
Read the NSW driving test manual and fully understand what is expected of you during the test.
-
Practice with a familiar car:
Make sure you are familiar with the car you will be using for the test and know how to operate all of its features.
-
Signal correctly:
Always use your signals, holding them for at least 5 seconds before leaving a car park or making a turn.
-
Stay calm:
Stay calm and focused even if you make a mistake. The examiner is lenient, and it's still possible to pass with some minor mistakes.
-
Pay attention:
A lack of attention is usually the main cause of minor faults by learner drivers. Focus on the task at hand and stay alert.
-
Don't rush:
Take the test only when you feel ready. Instructors can help you decide on the best time to reschedule the test.
-
Listen to your instructor:
Your instructor knows your ability and will let you know if you are ready or not. Trust their judgment.
-
Come to a complete stop:
Always come to a complete stop at stop signs to avoid getting fined and having points deducted from your license.
-
Do a mock test: A mock test can help you prepare for the real thing and alleviate some of the nerves. A&V Driving School offers mock tests as part of our driving test preparation lessons.
